Aweful stay no sleep and whirlpool non working.

We are Diamond members have been for very long time, this isn’t our first stay at this hotel. We’ve stayed here many times before but now we’re thinking of not coming back. We had two king rooms with whirlpools, one whirlpool worked one in the other room didn’t. I went to tell the front desk clerk he just said ok and that was all he was saying to me. I spent all night awake listening to a very loud fridge in our room, now I did tell the front desk about this asked to be moved but I was told there was no other rooms like ours to switch too because they were all book up. Then around 4:30am I mentioned it again he just was like oh that’s not right asked if I had said anything to the one that was there before he came in to work well yes I did but wasn’t taken seriously. So yeah thinking this will be our last stay at this hotel, no help, no sleep, our bathroom door was filthy and so were the door knobs not to mention awful sounding fridge ALL night. Poor customer service about any of my issues. For as much as we paid, we should have been treated better.

We had to "evacuate" our home for a couple of days due to some construction, so chose Comfort Inn due to it's proximity to our house, so my husband could drive back and forth to check on the progress of the job...from the minute I called to make reservations and spoke with Jeff, I knew we made a good choice. He was funny, informative and extremely helpful. We had a very comfortable room, exceptionally clean and welcoming. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows were wonderful . The bathroom was spotless. Every morning there is a nice breakfast available, at no cost to guests, with a lot of good, healthy choices...fruit, yogurts, muffins, etc. The hotel is right across a parking lot from Country House..a great restaurant and one of our favorites. My cousins stayed at this same hotel when they were here visiting from England. When I told Christine that we were staying at the same hotel they did, she said "Isn't it just like staying with friends..?" I think that's a perfect description.

Updated motel with modern clean lobby. Spacious clean room with average pillows, linens, paper products, television. Above average towels and an adequate mattress. Felt safe in the suburban neighborhood. Did not experience the pool. Had an anomaly in the bathtub where the main shower wall was loose and separated from the drywall at the bottom of the tub. The best breakfast bar experienced this vacation with good selection and an attendant that was working hard to keep breakfast food stocked. Lemon water offered in the lobby was a nice addition. Front desk employee was professional, friendly and pleasantly answered questions. Manager dealing with an overbooked motel was disheartening. My guests and I rated our stay pleasant and enjoyable and worth the extra expense.

Worst Experience! Called hotel for shuttle from airport, which was no problem until they called me and said it wouldn’t be there for another 3-4 hours and I should get a taxi. Room had what I hope is food on the walls and a dirty tub. I cleaned the tub so my child could bath, but the drain didn’t close-so I blocked the drain with an hand towel-and the shower had to run to fill the tub. Ride back to airport in shuttle -broken seatbelts and they shoved more people into the shuttle then they had seats!! They actually had someone sit in the trunk with the luggage!!! This was a major WTH experience

Cancel Culture at Choice Hotels and Comfort Inn, Geneva, Illinois

In November 2022, I wrote a favorable review of the Comfort Inn in Geneva, Illinois for Trip Advisor. Unfortunately, I recently had a very bad experience with the reservation system the hotel uses, managed by Choice Hotels. I had made a reservation to stay at the Comfort Inn for one night on Sunday, August 6. I cancelled this reservation on May 21. However, on August 7, I was charged for a room at this hotel, despite the fact that it was cancelled. When I contacted Choice, I was told by Choice that I had actually stayed at the hotel and therefore, the charge was valid. When I called the hotel to insist that I did not stay at the Comfort Inn, I was told that was not possible because their strict check-in procedures require the guest to show the desk staff an ID. Later, Choice admitted that no, you are correct, we have no record of you checking in on August 6 at the hotel; someone at the front desk did not follow protocol and listed you as having checked in instead as a no-show. But Choice also informed me that I still owed them $113.00 as a penalty for not cancelling the reservation. When I provided them with a cancellation number, I was told I have two Choice accounts and I cancelled the wrong account number. I explained to Choice that I didn't even know I had two account numbers and didn't understand why I had two separate numbers. When I checked the Choice website, it showed only one number under my name and that the August 6 reservation had been cancelled. I was told that it was too bad, somehow, I should have known I have two Choice numbers and consequently I would still be charged a $113.00 cancellation fee. Interestingly, nobody at Choice could explain why I have two Choice numbers to begin with. Like another customer wrote a negative review on Trip Advisor regarding the hotel’s cancellation policy, I do not think I have been treated fairly Choice Hotels. First, I was told that I did stay at the Comfort Inn on August 6, but when I asked that the hotel prove I wasn't there, then I was told that I didn’t stay there after all. When I gave Choice Hotels the cancellation number for the room, I was told that I have two numbers, despite never being told I have two numbers or why I was assigned a second number in the first place. So, Choice insists I pay for a room I never used and booked with a second account number I didn’t know anything about. Is this the way a loyal customer should be treated?
